AutoMapper is one those tools tools that seems to be gaining in popularity lately, generating a lot of talk on the web and at user groups. Seemed like a good idea to talk with its creator, Jimmy Bogard, and get the run-down on it.

In this code case we have Elegant Coders Chris Brandsma and Richard Cirerol (listen as Chris completely stumbles over Rich’s last name), and we are joined by Cory Isakson. For those of you outside of Bosie, Cory is a local usergroup leader, Code Camp presenter, and .net junky. We keep trying to get Cory to blog, but so far he is resisting our calls.

At the Agile 2009 conference in Chicago, I got to meet some great people I’d previously known only in electronic form. Tommy Norman is one of those folks, as he and I have had many conversations on Twitter. Tommy is a System Architect at Compuware in Nashville, TN where focuses on Application Lifecycle Management. He is also heavily into Scrum, Team System, and the Nashville .NET User Group. When not working he enjoys being at home with his family of 5, playing guitar and baby dolls, and making music. In this episode, Tommy visited with me about effectively applying Team System to some agile software development practices. This ranges from Continuous Integration to the tool aisle at your neighborhood Sears store, but I’ll leave that for you to discover.

This episode is a recording I made during my talk at the Agile 2009 conference in Chicago. The session, “Agile for Families, Iterating with Children”, was surprisingly popular. In addition to the slides and the audio, I am including a link to the IEEE paper that went along with this session. That’s right! There is an IEEE paper about Agile at home. Awesome :)

The slides from the talk are available below. The slide deck I am posting here is a bit larger than the one used in the talk. These slides include some interviews with the Starr kids that were left out of the slides at the conference for time reasons.

Story Teller is an alternative for Fitnesse, implemented in .NET and chases the holy grail of executable requirements. If you are interested in how to achieve the promise of shared and executable requirements, this just might be your tool.

Sam (Senior Director of Platform Strategy) explains that the open source community within Microsoft is thriving and goes far beyond CodePlex or EntLib source code. Who knew developers in Redmond wrote Java code? Or that Windows runs PHP like a champ? Or that Microsoft has contributed code to Linux?
