Band of Brothers

I am a voracious reader. As such, I think I will start posting book
reviews on my blog.

I just finished Band
of Brothers
which is a definitive work about the 101st Airborne’s activities through
WWII, from D-Day at Normandy through German post-war occupation. The book follows
the men of Company E, 2nd battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment all the way
from basic training to the end of the war.

The author, Steven Ambrose, is responsible for other well researched
and written books on D-Day and other subjects including Louis and Clark. This guy
is a greater historical writer.

Reading about WWII, especially the experiences of a front-line rifle
company, really drives home the horrors of war. The personal interviews and experiences
of these men are unbelievable, and I feel forever in their debt.
