I have been considering changing Elegant Code over to dasBlog for some time now.
I would like to thank Aaron Junod for making this decision much easier for me.
He provides the DotText2DasBlog utility that converted all of my posts and
comments from .Text.
Why I Am Changing
Simple, I want to try something else for awhile. I realize that .Text has supposedly
been picked up as a new open source project, but frankly I still don’t need
the multi-blog support of .Text. This also is a valid reason for not going the
Community Server route. I don’t care about galleries or forums provided by CS,
either. That said, I am using CS on a project at work, where I want to deploy
an enterprise blog engine and for that level of management, CS is a great solution.
No database! This is also a cool part of dasBlog.
Other Issues
I haven’t finished setting up all of the configurable items of dasBlog yet, so my
blogroll and other links need to be added. I think my .Text instance will have
to be up and running for awhile as I have a lot of images in the galleries that I
am linking to. Also, search hits via Google will have to be updated. I
am not sure how long that will take to trickle through the system.
RSS Feed & Stuff
If I am lucky enough that someone has aggregated me, they will need to change to the
new feed URL provided by dasBlog.
