Link Leecher
At the risk of exposing just how big a nerd I really am, I will tell you that I have
an affinity for old time radio programs (OTR for those in the know). Shows like The
Shadow, Dragnet, and The Whistler. I just love ’em.
Folks who publish these shows as MP3 files are not usually exactly on the bleeding
edge of technology and as such do not cast them through RSS. Generally these
shows are available through web pages with links to MP3s and I am thankful for just
that. 5 years ago I would not have found those.
I learned a new concept called Link Leeching that really helps me out in
collecting these shows. There are apps out there that you point at a web page,
it then parses the links from that page to other files, and then downloads them, usually
in a very efficient way.
The best of these that I have found so far is called Star Download. It is really
good, but it isn’t free. Anyone else have a similar tool that is genuine freeware?
