As part of the Software
2005 conference podcast series hosted on IT
Conversations, Scott Cook, founder and CEO of Intuit, presented a great session
on the role that customers play in product innovation.
A couple of the things that I genuinely enjoyed about this presentation:
-
Scott Cook is a genuinely pragmatic CEO. — Do what works and do it well.
-
He explains and examines the role of Product managers in the software creation
process. -
Mr. Cook competently demonstrates the influence that customers can, and should,
have on our product development activities.

Here’s the thing; there are no lessons to be learned here about software specifically.
The lessons offered are applicable to any product development initiative. He just
reminds us that we in the software building biz so often forget the importance of
the basics.
