XML in the Next Office

According to an article on today’s AP feed, Microsoft is looking to simplify the XML
within the MS Word.  This could be huge for my company.  We are still holding
licenses for XMetal for authoring in XML and we sure wish we could code an Office
app instead.  I can’t wait to open an MS Word XML dcument and not have to make
the <o:/> face. O, o, o.

Apparently they are going to make a more detailed anonouncment at Tech Ed.

“Making XML the default Office file format is, for me, the culmination of a 35-year
dream,” Charles F. Goldfarb, the inventor of the markup language technology, said
in a statement released by Microsoft.

Wow.  What a nerd.
