My Truck is For Sale

Let’s see if the Internet can sell another vehicle for me.

Amazing 1979 Ford F-350 4×4

I have owned this truck since 2000.  I have done a ton of work to this vehicle
and it is a power horse.  The truck has more custom work than most anything you
will find out there.  Here is an exhaustive rundown.

Done November of 2005 to Sell It

  • Over $3200 in receipts from professional shop here in Boise.
  • Rebuilt Dana 70 rear end.  This rear end will now last longer than the rest of
    the truck

    • New Ring and Pinion
    • New spider gears
    • New seals
    • You should flush and service this rear end in 1000 miles after the break in period.
  • Brakes, new pads and shoes all around
  • Rebuilt the carburetor, an Edelbrock 1475.  Professionally rebuilt with a complete
    kit and floats.
  • New battery
  • New alternator
  • Flushed and serviced front Dana 60.
  • Every U-Joint on both drive lines is new.  Even the front CV joint.
  • New front rotors

New Engine

I put a brand spanking new engine in it in 2002.  My wife has all the receipts,
believe me .  The
Ford 350 4×4 only came with the 400M engine, but the 400 was getting tired, so I wanted
to rebuild and decided to go to a 460.  To make the conversion, I purchased a
complete 11B conversion
kit
from L&L Products.  The cost of this conversion kit alone was
$1500 after shipping.  Check
the price
.  The engine itself was dressed and painted very well and the installation
was done properly.  There is over $5000 under the hood of this truck.  The
engine and everything else under the hood has far less than 5000 miles on it.
You’re the winner.

    • Rebuilt long block from S&S Engines in Spokane, WA.
    • Bored .30 over
    • RV Cam
    • New Edelbrock Performer aluminium intake
    • New Edelbrock #1407
750cfm carburetor with manual choke.  Off road needles and seats.
    • New Billet pulleys and pump/compressor brackets.
    • New everything – plugs, wires, distributor, K&N Air filter, new seals and gaskets.
      No engine leaks.
    • New deep sump oil pan. New oil pump.
    • New water pump.
    • New starter and flywheel
    • I could go on, but this was a conversion to a 460 which meant that nothing from the
400M fit.  Everything under the hood is new.
    • Converted steering column to tilt.  Now the truck has a tilt steering wheel.
    • Re-cored radiator.
    • L&L Ultra
      Flow Headers
.  These are amazing.  The sound and power is incredible.
    • Complete new dual exhaust.  I had the mufflers recessed high into the frame for
      more clearance.

Interior

This work was all done at the same time, so these items have less than 5000 miles
on them, too.  The interior is in fine codition, not perfect, but very good.

  • Front seat was ripped, so it got a complete coverage new front split seat cover.
  • Rear seat got a Hi-Rider
    lift kit from LMI
.  This raises the rear seat 4” so the kids can
see out or adults can ride comfortably.
  • Nice Sony CD player and stereo system.  Door speakers and ceiling mounted rear
    speakers.
  • Complete flooring cover.  It is a molded padded rubber floor.  The theory
was that I wanted to be able to hose it out, although I never had to.
  • New door seals.  New rubber.

Suspension

The whole point of this truck for me was to haul my camper (sold), which weighed 4500
lbs dry.  I took it down to Boise Spring and told them that when I got back I
wanted it sitting level with the camper on it.  This basically resulted in the
biggest spring pack you have ever laid eyes on and an $800 bill.  This truck
is now essentially an 1979 F-550 if there is such a thing.  There are 8 springs
in the main pack and 11 in the overloads, if i remember correctly.  Bottom line
is that it’ll easily handle your horse trailer and whip your buddy’s new Power Stroke
up the hill doing it, right Bob?

Other Goodies

  • Air conditioning
  • Cruise control
  • C-6 automatic transmission (1–ton).  Guess what, you get another one with the
truck.  That’s right, an extra C-6 just in case you want to build up another
one.  It’s in my garage and i just want it gone.
  • Newer CB radio
  • NP-205 transfer case.  Bulletproof.
  • Rear seat folds down to accommodate your gear or dogs.
  • Rear sliding glass.  Could use refurbished seals to make it cleaner.
  • Good Big O XT mud tires
  • Aluminium rims
  • Strong 2” Eaz-Lift hitch
  • Diamond plate bed plates
  • Camper mounting hardware and wiring plug on bed
  • 2nd battery tray under hood and wiring for charging deep cycle battery.

Extra Items to Go With the Truck

I have some things that i accumulated when I built this truck.  They go with
it. If you don’t want them I will chain them to the back of the truck as you are trying
to leave.  No seriously, I’ll just eBay them.

  • Extra rear drive line
  • Extra C-6 transmission
  • Extra front grill, just in case.  The current one is fine.  Use this one
as a toy and black it out or something.
  • Nice set of new
    truck mirrors
.  You install them, I’m done.
  • New headliner.

What Does it Need?

  • If I were keeping this truck, I would paint it.  There is some surface rust in
places that I would like to have sanded and painted, but there is NO cancer.
It is definitely not a rust bucket.  The paint is old and if this were done it
would be a completely new truck.  I have considered doing this to sell it, but
if I do it will raise the price to $12,000.
  • The headliner could use refurbishing or replacing.  Here’s the good news.
It comes with a new headliner that I ordered from JC Whitney.  You install it.

Bottom Line
