Sony ICD-P320

Category:UncategorizedTag: , :

I have a lot of ideas.  I forget most of them.  So at the risk of looking like a complete ass, I recently decided to try a mini voice recorder to remind myself of things to do later.  Now, I am still nervous that the use of one of these things makes me look like a yuppie a-hole, but boy oh boy is it ever working well.

The types of things I am remembering now are really helpful:

  1. Send an email to so-and-so to remind her to set up the such-and-such.
  2. Blog about this-or-that.
  3. Send a thank you note to whoseits.

Frankly, it is working great and the dork factor is worth it so far. So let’s talk about the recorder itself.  I chose the Sony ICD-P320 because it is especially designed for the task and has some nice feature.

  • It is small enough to fit in my pocket easily.  Even into my shirt pocket.
  • It has a USB port that I can use to connect it to my laptop to transfer recordings in WAV format.
  • It is easily operated with one hand and in the dark.

The one bad thing so far has been that in typical Sony fashion, the storage format on the recorder is non-standard.  I have to convert from the proprietary format to WAV to use it on my PC.  This means using the provided Sony management software instead of simply accessing the device through file manager, which would be so much easier.

All in all, this little device is proving to be handy.  I am forgetting fewer things and that makes me more effective.

I must confess that I am considering returning it to get an MP# player that would serve the same purpose.  It just seems stupid not have that functionality.

  1. You know, you could have gotten 2 of those, with on board flash lights, for the low low price of 19.99, according to the ding bat lady on tv. Just to know.

  2. I bought a Digital sony recorder icd-p320, installed it’s software and used it to my satisfaction.
After 8 months I had to use it again, unfortunately I lost the disk it was supplied with.
Could you mail me the setup program ???.
    Thanks in advance.
