Installing all the things on my new Mac

After about five years of an Apple hiatus I just couldn’t resist the new M4 MacBook Pro. Naturally, I started adding all the software I could possibly ever need in the whole wide world.

Below are the things I have installed so far.

I’ve been out of the Apple game for quite a while, so help me out. What am I missing out on?

Dev Tools

  • Warp – An amazing terminal for Mac
  • VS Code
  • JetBrains Rider
  • JetBrains PyCharm
  • JetBrains WebStorm
  • Chrome
  • Edge
  • Docker
  • MongoDB

General productivity stuff

  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Microsoft 365 apps
  • Microsoft To Do – My favorite to do list across all devices and platforms
  • OneDrive
  • OneNote – Where my current notes live
  • Obsidian – Where I am migrating my notes to, and a great way to blog to WordPress using markdown.
  • Rocket – Add emojis in any app
  • Rocket Typist – Keep text snippets on hand for anything
  • TechSmith Camtasia – Video recording and editing
  • TechSmith SnagIt – Screenshots
  • Windows App
  • A password manager that shall remain anonymous

Little Utils

  • Keeping You Awake – Keeps the machine awake if I want
  • Better Snap Tool – Like Windows PowerToys FancyZones because I run a wide monitor

3D printing stuff

Even though the new Apple Intelligence is baked in:

  • ChatGPT AI app
  • Claude AI app
