MSN vs. Google Toolbars

Several days ago in this
post
, I wrote about the installation of the MSN toolbar into my life. One of the
innocuous questions raised was

“When a popup is blocked, who takes the credit?”

The answer is, it depends, but usually Google takes
credit for it. More importantly, which one did I just UNinstall? The answer: MSN.
I stayed with the Google bar.

Why did I choose Google over MSN?

  1. After the MSN toolbar addition, my IE windows
were always boogered up. One menu or the other was always too small, not on, or something.

  2. I liked the search results better.

  3. MyMSN is always down when I want to use it.
There is a quick launch button to MyMSN, which I took the time to customize to my
tastes, and I looked forward to using it. The button took me to a 404 error more often
    than not.

  4. Call me a romantic, but I’d like
to see Google stay on top in this space. MS has enough of everything else that it
does well without reducing the simple task of searching to mediocrity.
