My World of RSS

After a major system rebuild, my RSS lifestyle is finally whole again. I changed everything
from RSS readers to MP3 players and here is my current list of RSS tools.

Podcatcher

Juice, formerly
iPodder
. This surprisingly effective application is written in Python and just
sits around pulling my favorite nerd shows at 1:00 in the morning or on demand. Simple,
no muss, no fuss. Juice replaces iTunes for me.

RSS Aggregator

Attensa for Outlook. I am not
sure where these guys are heaading with their business model, but probably to compete
directly with NewsGator. Their Outlook integration is certeinly comperable, if not
better with a more elegant UI. The only beef I have with the client is the lck of
ability to force a check on a feed. I have to wait for it to trickle in on it’s own
schedule. Granted, I can tweak the schedule, but still…

The client does have support for enclosures, but it isn’t sophisticated enough to
replace Juice. Attensa replaces NewsGator for
me.

Blog Writing Client

RocketPost, which I hae blogged about
recently is the winner. I tried more alternatives than I should have, turning the
comparison into a complete waste of time. I am going with this client as a direct
result of the personal attention that I have receive from the company. They even implemente
features upon my request.

Rocketpost replaces BlogJet! for me.

Media Player

You can backtrack in this blog to see my trials an tribulations on this one, but so
far I am very happy with my latest choise, the iRiver H10 20G. The iRiver replaces
the Creative Zen Micro Photo, which replaced my 4th gen iPod 20G.
