Verbifying Microsoft Product Names

Category:UncategorizedTag: :

You know, the marketing crew at Microsoft has it rough, don’t they?  Those poor folks just cant name something well to save their lives.

Google vs. Live.com

You know the Google brand has entered pop culture when my wife asks me if I have Googled something.  Frankly, you just aren’t going to turn Live.com into a verb, which is the hallmark of brand success.  Can you believe the common speech around Tech Ed last week sounded like this?  “You can just Goog…, I mean, Live.com web search that.”

Digg vs. TagSpace

“That’s a cool post, I think I’ll TagSpace it.”

Doesn’t just roll of your tongue, does it?

MySpace vs. MSN Spaces

P. Diddy has a MySpace page.  So do Dennis Rodman and Tito Ortiz.  Guess who is on MSN Spaces?  Yeah, I don’t know either.

iPod vs. Zune

Not a bad attempt, but too late.  After the emergence of pod casting as a term, it was already over.
